A world in economic crisis

Indonesian military and the people smuggling trade

Posted in Uncategorized by Aussie on July 19, 2012

Yesterday it actually looked like the Indonesian government was finally doing something positive about the people smuggling operations that is so rampant. In fact 5 military officers have been arrested as they were escorting a group of Iranians and Syrians to a drop off point – to catch a boat to Australia. To the average Australian that arrest must be welcome news but there is a real sting in this story.

First of all, I believe that the Indonesian villagers who did the tip off about this particular operation deserve a lot of praise because it is through their actions that one group of people have been prevented from getting on those boats and heading to Australia. The boats are arriving at the rate of about 2 per day at the present time.

Now for some parsing of the story that is being told, because it highlights why there is so much corruption, and why these people smugglers have not been stopped before now. That sting happens to be that the Indonesian government does not properly fund its own military meaning that they must get funding by whatever means are possible, including running a people smuggling operation.

According to the report from the Age, there are thousands more of these illegals in the region where these military officers are stationed. This means that they have been getting paid to escort these people to the boats in the village near the sea, and they are paid large sums of money for their cooperation. The fact that the Indonesian government does not fund its own military is all the evidence that is needed to push Indonesia on doing more to stop those boats.

The problem belongs to Indonesia because it is due to the corruption that is rampant within the military, brought about by the lack of government funding that is a cause of why Australia is being hit with so many boat arrivals.

The other side of the coin remains the attitude of the present government. By giving a green light to these illegal immigrants the government of Australia has created a rod for its own back. They are providing bridging visas etc. and they are processing these people without the necessary security and medical checks.

This latest group that have been prevented from arriving consist of Iranians and Syrians. I am surprised that there are Syrians making the journey, because those who have fled from Assad have been holed up in camps within Turkey (along the border). They are being cared for by Turkey, and there is no need for them to flee. That begs the question about these individuals who have been caught…. who are they? Why are they with Iranians? The Iranians cannot claim refugee status because there is no official war in that country. These are not refugees and asylum seekers. They are illegal immigrants or as they could in fact be from the government of those countries (keep in mind that Syria is a satellite of Iran).

How can you say “no” to the religion of peace? Seriously, I’m having a difficult time coming up with a country (especially an English speaking one) that isn’t playing into the hands of this scum. I thought it would be good to have a fallback country.
    How’ve you been Aussie?

thanks. I do know that I need yet another filling because the old one has failed. I am hoping that this is getting to the last of the amalgam fillings. I am very sure that I had root canal therapy with the tooth because it does not hurt… that is one reason why I have to wait until after the 14th for an appointment.

Next on the agenda is an x-ray with my feet. Same deal I have to wait until after the 14th when money goes in the bank. 🙂

It is not so much an English speaking country issue, as it is an issue with Watermelons who are flakes having too much power.

Up until 2007 when Kevin Rudd led the ALP into government the illegal alien issue with regards to people arriving by boat had become a non-issue because appropriate action had been taken. Howver, under Rudd-Dullard it has become open slather. There are thousands of people arriving and the number is absolutely staggering.

However, it is the stupidity of the nutcases known as the Green Party aka Watermelons that is helping to cause chaos. We have Sarah Two-Fathers getting up in the Senate all choked up with tears making what can only be considered stupid and ill considered comments that serve as a “come on” to these illegals.

The situation is even worse than I am portraying because the government is actually telling these illegals what they need to enter into the country. On top of that our Navy has become a taxi service, and for icing on the STUPID cake, an agreement has been reached with Indonesia that allows the Australian navy to continue with its taxi service in their waters. In my opinion that agreement does nothing to stop this madness.

The boats keep on arriving, sometimes up to 2 in a day and more than 10 in a week. The figures over the last few months are totally staggering.

These people are paying to get themselves to Indonesia. Then they go to villages in a certain region where the army officers then escort them to where they can get a boat. They set sail and then they ditch their papers and other equipment and signal for help even if the boat is not in trouble… and the Australian government insists that the Navy picks up these illegals and treat them as refugees….

…. except that there is no war in Bangladesh or Pakistan, and the civil war in Sri Lanka has ended. On top of that the refugees from Syrian are sitting in Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon. Plus there is no war in Iran. That means that there is not even a good reason to designate these illegal aliens as refugees, because they are not…..

…. the last lot that were refugees like that were Vietnamese. Australia did not allow East Timorese to seek refugee status. Some East Timorese were allowed into Australia but they had to return to that country… they were not allowed to apply for citizenship…. which was a real shame because they would make exemplary citizens… not like these illegal aliens.

Sounds like the U.S. We keep decent immigration applicants waiting for years. Yet the criminals and moslems get to waltz in through the Mexican border. Oblamer has done everything shy of laying a red carpet for their arrival.

Yes, there is a lot of similarity. It makes my blood boil to think that there are people who have been processed sitting in refugee camps waiting for their name to be called and instead they are displaced by these non-refugees.

It is the same ideology as Oblamer and that is what makes me so cranky. Oblamer has to fall under the category of Watermelon. They are cranks. They are know-nothings. On top of that they tend to be people who show that they are clueless when it comes to such things as economics.
